Stupidest thing a JW ever told you
by Nosferatu inwhat is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

The Scriptures
by KGB inthe scriptures are some of the oldest books in the world known to man with dates included now how do you suppose that can be, that these books have survived this long, many thousands of years ?
hmmmmmm i don't see any other book on the shelf as long as this book not even any other history book as far as that goes, now i wonder why a book that supposedly is nothing more than a lie or uninspired as some of you put it would survive that long.
i wonder how christianity has lasted as long as it has if it is all just a lie.

and exactly WHO inserted that claim? Again, I beseech you to investigate deeper and further back in time. How many stories in the bible are transparent modifications from ancient (pre-jesus) Egypt and Assyro-Babylonian myths?

everyone wants to belong, it is human nature. the easiest way to belong is blind, mindless acceptance. in short, to be a follower. you are a follower, kgb. do a little ancient history research. there are many writtings which are pre-'christian', albeit, not in books, but on stone. take the time to check it out.

Unbelievable experiences at assemblies or conventions
by Dimples inwhat experience at an assembly or convention caused you to raise your eyebrows in disbelief?.
one that comes to mind is a 5 year old conducting several bible studies.
wasn't it hard enough for an adult to get a bible study?

Its scary to see a 5 -year-old who's so smug and prissy, already turning into a self-righteous turd.

Paradise lost - found!
by dmouse inhey, my mum was having a clear-out today and decided to throw away her old society books (she ain't in now...yippee).. i was helping and came across an old 'paradise lost - paradise regained' book that we used to study as a family when i was just a nipper.. it's in remarkably good condition considering five kids used to man-handle it about 30 years ago.
it wasn't a children's book really, but the simple language used, to appeal to all sorts of laymen, made it suitable for that purpose.. scanning through i came across loads of pictures that really brought memories flooding back, i'll post some more when i get the time.. somebody recently posted a thread about the jw belief that dinosaurs were about at the same time as humans.
well the picture on the inside cover shows a dinosaur (top left) wandering about the desert and people too.

Interpretation of Matt: 24:14 & 28:19,20, Opinions
by unique1 inthis was the first big thing i had issues with.
i had always been taught i had to preach to inherit gods kingdom.
i had memorized both scriptures at an extremely early age.

The jws put the emphasis mainly on "this good news of the kingdom", which of course they describe as God's government in the hands of Jesus. The gospel of Christ is preached by them, but the emphasis is not so much on the Christ himself, which one might argue actually the Churches preach more effectively. Interesting, that way back when i was going door to door, the general consensus of the 'worldly' was that we as jws did not accept or believe in jesus!
